The Level 1A Fundamental Seminar is a one-day course designed to train contractors, builders, developers, site superintendents, grading and utility contractors, and monitoring consultants in the proper installation, maintenance, and inspection of BMPs on construction sites. This includes all inspectors performing inspections for NPDES compliance.  However, city/county/state personnel performing inspections for compliance with state law must take the Level 1B course. Topics covered in this course are fundamentals of erosion and sediment control, the Georgia Erosion & Sedimentation Act, NPDES Permits, field maintenance, stream buffers, vegetative and structural BMP practices. This course is approved by the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission and is taught by a certified trainer. This course includes an exam administered by an approved proctor. A government issued photo I.D. must be presented to take the exam.  In order to obtain Level 1A certification you must:

  • Attend an approved Level 1A Seminar
  • Submit an application for certification
  • Pass the Level 1A certification exam
