This three-day course is designed to provide detailed "how to" instruction to environmental consultants, property and facility managers, asset managers and others responsible for performing and/or reviewing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA). The framework for this course is the ASTM standard for Phase I ESA's: Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Process (E1527-05).

The course is divided into both classroom lecture and hands on exercises following the format of the ASTM Standard Practice.  Specific, detailed information will be presented on each of the four (4) ASTM defined Phase I ESA components:

  • Records Review;
  • Site Reconnaissance;
  • Interviews; and
  • Reporting.

The course will culminate in a mock Phase I ESA in which students will apply what they have learned during the informative lectures and hands on exercises.  The course will be taught by those with extensive experience in requesting, performing and reviewing Phase I ESA's in accordance with the ASTM Standard Practice.
